TKZ Down
posted by Spyder on February 15th, 2007 |
TKZ is currently down due to some database problems. Xavier doesn't know the extent of the problems, nor does he have any idea at this time when the site will be back up, and because he's working full time now doing non-TKZ related web development, it could be some time before the site is restored.
Please be patient, and try not to hit the refresh button over and over again for more than 5 minutes at a time. Hopefully things will be back to normal sooner rather than later. |

Uploading games to Mystic Software
posted by Spyder on May 24th, 2006 |
Lately we've had people trying to upload games using the Submit tool. Please do not try to upload games this way. It is only for resources listed in the "Category" drop down box. Games should always be uploaded using the instructions available on the "Hosting" page. If you can't get in touch with me on the MS forums, you can try PMing me at The TKZ.
Also, if you are putting your game in your game profile on TKZ, please do not link directly to files hosted here on Mystic Software. You may link to your games page, but not to the game itself. If you try and link directly to the file, you may have your submission rejected by TKZ. If you continue to try and link directly to the file, your game may be removed from the MS server altogether. |

Hey, folks. Just wanted to thank the die hard MS-er's who still find the occasion to submit new material to the site, even through it sometimes takes us a few months to get to it. (Heh...)
A quick note on RPG Code submissions. Almost everything we get is in the old TK2 format. This is fine, but TK3 is really looking polished nowadays in terms of bugs and stability, so let's start seeing some more TK3 specific programs! |

Dark Age EX released
posted by Spyder on April 6th, 2005 |
Dark Age EX is a remake of the first Dark Age (still in TK2). The primary goal was the replacement of all the default systems with custom programming. The re-release also features many graphical and musical improvements, a few extra secrets, and of course a gaping plot hole or two filled. Unlike Dark Age 2, Dark Age EX still contains some ripped elements. The full game remains completely free.

RPGToolkit 3.06 Released
posted by Spyder on April 5th, 2005 |
Source - The Toolkit Zone
I am pleased to announce the arrivial of the bugfix only release, which addresses a whole array of issues in the editor and engine that have plagued users in recent versions. So what can you expect fixed in this release? You can find a complete list here. This is the first release to also be fully documented and supported by [TKZ's] brand new and extensive online help site which you can find here.
A big thank you to Colin and Delano who did the all the development work this time around, they agreed to stick to the bugfix ethos from day one and produced an amazing number of fixes. Also thanks should go to Occasionally Correct for his writing skills in the new references and help files.
This was the first release to publicly release periodic builds to help test the development, but in the last two or three weeks we've also had some dedicated behind-the-scenes guys using their projects to push the Toolkit to the limit and expose any problems. These guys, with thanks going to them, are; Ashe, Caliber Mengsk, Codester, Khin, oblivious_casualty, RDemusX and Serge.
Some issues still remain that were far too complex and/or time consuming for this release, such as some of the Win9x problems. But the developers are already thinking ahead on how to set about fixing these in future releases - they haven't been ignored!
If you encounter any problems when installing, please check out this article which has some relevant information. Well, I won't delay any further. You can get the brand new Toolkit release by clicking here. |

Mystic Software website suspended.
posted by Spyder on April 1st, 2005 |
I've got to admit, RackHost (MS' hosting provider) pulled a good one. When I first loaded up the site today (it's my homepage) and it said that the website was suspended for illegal practices, I immidiately started wondering which hosted site was hosting either porn or warez. Of course before I could come up with any names, the April Fools box came up, and I was immidiately relieved =P. Anyways, congrats to RackHost for a job well done =)
Edit: Whoops! Apparently it wasn't RackHost at all! Our very own co-webmaster Matt72186 is the artist that pulled this one off. Nice job Matt =P |

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
posted by Spyder on January 1st, 2005 |
Happy New Year everyone! 2004 sure was an interesting one, if not anything else. I'm looking forward to 2005 though. I'm sure some good things will happen to the RPG Toolkit, and in turn, the TK community as a whole.
To start the year off, Cyrus Martin will finally be releasing his long awaited novel "Deceit & Conquest Vol. 1: Seor". Although a final release date has not been confirmed, Mystic Software has conducted an interview with Mr. Martin for the communities interest, and to support one of the select few that take their projects outside the walls of our little community. Please support Cyrus by visiting Tarnished Heart Films and the D&C: Seor websites, and purchasing his novel, or any of his other works.
Read the interview? Bought the book? Then check out Teen Link's new game, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". It's in the games section.

Server transfer to begin soon
posted by Spyder on December 10th, 2004 |
Our current webhost is closing it's doors, and we will begin moving MS to a new host starting Monday, the 13th of December. Please do not upload any files to your website or to Mystic Software from the time the transfer begins, until the time that we inform you that the transfer is complete. I will post on the forums, as well as the main site when I've begun the transfer. You may continue to post on the forums once the transfer begins. Once the files have been transfered, we will lock the forums so that we can transfer the databases to the new server. A URL will be posted here, as well as on the forum letting you know how to access the new site and forums while we transfer the domain names, which will be the last part of the process.
For those of you with web and email accounts with MS, none of your login information should change. For the most part, I have all of your information, and hopefully won't have to ask anyone for it. All FTP logins should also remain the same. If anything changes, I will post them on this forum, as well as the home page.
If you have any questions, please reply to this message, or contact me through PM or email. |

TK Land, Talona released
posted by Spyder on December 2nd, 2004 |
The much awaited demo of TK Land is finally here. Check out one of the most anticipated games in TK history. TK Land is the first community based game to land in the TK community, and could eventually become one of the most popular games as well. Not only is it the first successful community based game, but it is also one of the extremely rare TK games created using a team of people. Indreams Studios has worked extremely hard on this release, and it shows. Even though the game is only in the very early stages of development, It has a professional quality that instantly stands out. If that's not enough, TK Land is one of the first games to be released using the TK3 engine.
Chaos has uploaded his recently released game "Talona". While your downloading it, make sure you check out his booth at the Winter 2004 TK Expo. |

RPGToolkit 3.0.3 Released!
posted by Spyder on May 24th, 2004 |
The latest version of the Toolkit is now available at The Toolkit Zone. There are way too many improvements in this release to list them all on the page, but here are a few of my favorites...
- Added new optional Toolbar which has two main features;
1. Allows you to view and sort programs, items and warps. You can then click
one of them to edit the object itself, change the settings or remove.
2. You can set various display options such as always redraw all layers and
have certain objects such as programs and items always be displayed.
- No pause when moving to a new board.
- Enemies no longer die with one hit.
- Added support for the number-pad for movement, and for cursor maps.
And plenty more!

| The day has finally arrived! Mystic Software is now in a brand new PHP format. For those unfamiliar with PHP, this basically means that the effort it takes to update the site gets reduced by about 85%. Updates should be much more common than the last couple years. This means more resources, more tutorials, more reviews, and best of all, more games. Stay tuned to this page for more news on not only resoures, but features we'll be adding to the site to make things easier for everyone. Also, if you haven't already joined the Mystic Software community, make sure and take a quick glance at the forums. It's a great place to discuss games, the Toolkit, this site, and anything else you have on your mind. You can even role-play! |
